I always have my ears and eyes trained to be aware of news or research being released about being overweight, obese or diabetic.
Yesterday I was listening to Sunday House Call on Fox News. Jamie Colby was interviewing
Dr Siegel and Dr Samadim. They were discussing new research just released that being overweight or diabetic increased the risk of having Dementia.
What is more alarming about the new research is prior to this new development it was believed that people didn't start losing their memory and developing other symptoms at 60 years of age.
Cognitive function can start to decline from the age of 45, according to a study published in the British Medical Journal (Thursday, January 5, 2012).
Researchers in France and the UK looked at 5,198 men and 2,192 women aged between 45 and 70 over a 10-year period from 1997. Participants' cognitive functions including memory, vocabulary and aural and visual comprehension skills were assessed three times.
The study found there was a 3.6 per cent decline in mental reasoning in women and men aged 45-49.
