Do Really Want To Be Healthy?

If you really want to be healthy you can. However, you must focus on your lifestyle. You can't have the attitude to wait until later to lose weight, eat better to lower cholesterol or improve cardiovascular health. Later could be too late!

I'm 58 years old and I watched my Mother and Mother in law die at the young age of 69. Both were obese and my Mom was diabetic. A year after their deaths I had my own wake up call and realized I was on a pathway to early death. So I started 2 years a go to change the direction I was headed.

Last week I had blood work done for my upcoming medical check up. Yesterday, was my doctor's appointment and I walked out of her office with the best report I've had in 10 years.

My A1c was down from 9 to 6.2 and for a diabetic anything under 7 is considered to be good. My bad cholesterol was 83, down from 200. The doctor said 100 for bad cholesterol is good so I'm better than good. My blood pressure was perfect. Plus I had lost 40 pounds since my last visit.

My weight loss had a lot to do with my improved health. And I would have never been able to achieve it without SlimMax. However, SlimMax is not the only natural supplement I take. I take the following nutritional supplements on a daily basis and I never miss.

1) SlimMax - for weight loss with totally hunger and craving control. Plus glucose control.

2) Balanced Woman - hormonal balance and breast cancer prevention.

3) Natures Coral - Natures Coral with Vitamin D3 has been formulated to provide optimum nutrients to restore proper pH of the body fluids. Natures Coral Calcium is made from fossilized stony coral and helps improve immune system.

4) 10 Hour Energy + Brain Power - for energy and mental focus.

5) Natures Zymes - for digestion.

6) Natures Cleanse - a mild colon cleanser.

7 L-ArgiMax - L-arginine formula for cardiovascular health and many other health benefits.

From the bottom of my heart I would love for all of my blogger friends to take their health very seriously and get on the road to better health.

Don't Eat Until You Feel Full

I have a bunch of errands to do today but I wanted to pop in and say good morning to my blogger friends and share my thoughts for the day.

There is nothing I hate worse than feeling stuffed and bloated a few minutes after I finish eating. I've often wondered why on earth didn't I stop eating sooner.

Now I know that it takes 20 minutes after I've stopped eating for my brain to send the message that I'm not hungry anymore. If you stop eating when you feel satisfied instead of completely full, you will consume less calories and within in 20 minutes you will be full with no desire for more to eat.

Another way to help you feel fuller and more satisfied with less food is too eat slower and chew your food well. Eating slower gives your stomach more time to start working on the digestive process. When you eat your entire meal in 5 minutes, there is a good chance your will find yourself suffering from indigestion.

Your body uses a ton of energy to digest food and in return burns a lot of calories. Chewing your food 30-50 times helps you to digest your food more easily which can help you lose weight. It also forces you to eat slower. I have to admit I do not chew my food that many times. However, I am going to give it try at least for a week and see if improves my weight loss.

Until Next Time .... Eat slower and chew your food more.

Help Your Kids Make Wise Eating Choices

This must be the week for repeats. I'm writing on an issue I have written on before again today. But yesterday I was visiting my new granddaughter. Her two older sisters ( 4 and 3 years old) were running around playing. They were eating strawberries and grapes for their snack and it reminded me how important it is to set good examples with our kids and grandkids.

It used to annoy me that my daughter in law didn't allow the girls to have cookies or anything with a lot of sugar in it. But now I am very happy she instilled in them to eat only healthy snacks from the very beginning of their lives. Now they don't crave unhealthy snacks, they don't even ask for them. Don't get me wrong the girls have a cookie or a sucker every once in awhile but not very often. I'm positive my son's 3 daughters will never struggle with their weight. Plus another positive thing is the girls are calm and are never hyper.

Now I'll move on to my daughter. She has 4 kids and she is on the total opposite end of the spectrum. Her kids eat on a daily basis cookies, candy, ding dongs, the list goes on. I guess the best way to describe it is they have a steady diet of junk food. My daughter's two girls have already struggled with their weight and her 2 boys so far have escaped it. However, the boys are constantly hyped up and rowdy.

Unfortunately I was guilty of the very same thing with my kids. My daughter is only following in my foot steps. My mother and grandmother was also guilty of using food as a reward. I really believe it is a learned behavior. Since I have struggled with being overweight all of my adult life, I wish from the bottom of my heart that my Mom and my Grandmother would have instilled good eating habits in me from the beginning of my life.

It's never to late to start over. I'm going to focus on only buying healthy snacks and encouraging my daughter's kids to eat healthy.

Until Next Time ... Eat an apple for your afternoon snack.

Negative Calorie Foods

I hope all my blogger friends had a great Super Bowl weekend. I'm a big Giants fan so I loved the game! Well I should say I'm a Manning fan. Of course being from the Midwest, Peyton is my favorite but I'm also an Eli fan too. OK with all that said ... lets get started.

I've written about negative calorie foods before. The reason I am writing about it again is because it is one of the things that keeps me focused on my weight loss journey.

Don't let anyone try to convince you there are foods with zero calories. All foods have calories. However, the way some foods react in your body can produce the results of negative calories. Negative calorie foods aren't completely void of calories. But negative calorie foods are foods that use more calories to digest than the foods themselves contain. Since the body has to work harder to process these foods, they are natural fat burners.
One of the biggest struggles I have with SlimMax is the very strong appetite suppressant it provides. I take my first pill around 11 AM and within 30 minutes, I totally lose the desire to eat. Which is good but also causes a few problems for me. One, I'm a diabetic and I must eat or my sugar drops to low. The other problem is you can't stop eating and continue to lose weight.

If you don't eat often enough it sends signals to your brain that you are starving, so your body holds on to your stored body fat to survive.

On weeks I fail to eat enough or often enough the scales don't move. This is were foods from the negative calorie list is a life saver for me. I can wash and slice up some of my favorite negative calorie foods and put them in the rrefrigerator for easy access. The secret for me is setting the stove timer mid morning which forces me to get up and get a snack. For example: This morning I have the timer sent for 10 AM, when it goes off I have strawberries ready to eat. I will fill a 16 oz Solo Cup with them. I will set it by my computer so I can nipple away on a healthy negative calorie snack. Then I repeat the process and will re-set the timer to go off at 2 PM. Today I have cold crisp radishes cleaned and ready for another healthy negative calorie afternoon snack.

Negative Calorie Fruits
  • Apple
  • Cranberries
  • Grapefruit
  • Lemon
  • Mango
  • Orange
  • Papaya
  • Pineapple
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Tangerine
  • Watermelon
  • Peach

Negative Calorie Vegetables

  • Asparagus
  • Beet
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Carrot
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery
  • Chile peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Dandelion
  • Endive
  • Garden cress
  • Garlic
  • Green beans
  • Lettuce
  • Onion
  • Radishes
  • Spinach
  • Turnip
  • Zucchini
You don't have to do without or skip meals to lose weight. Try SlimMax to help control your hunger and cravings which makes it easy to lose weight fast!

What Is Metabolism?

I know you have heard many times, to lose weight you must keep your metabolism burning. But do you know what metabolism is?

Metabolism is a collection of chemical reactions that takes place in the body's cells. Metabolism converts the fuel in the food we eat into the energy needed to power everything we do, from moving to thinking to growing. Specific proteins in the body control the chemical reactions of metabolism, and each chemical reaction is coordinated with other body functions. In fact, thousands of metabolic reactions happen at the same time, all regulated by the body to keep our cells healthy and working.

Metabolism is a very complicated chemical process. Which is why I find it confusing and it's not surprising many people think of it in its simplest sense: as something that influences how easily our bodies gain or lose weight.

A calorie is a unit that measures how much energy a particular food provides to the body. A candy bar has more calories than an apple, so it provides the body with more energy which sometimes that can be too much of a good thing. Think about it like a car's gas tank, it stores the fuel until it is needed to start the engine. The body works the same and stores calories primarily as fat until it is needed. If you overfill a car's gas tank, it spills out onto the ground. Likewise, if a person eats too many calories, they "spill over" in the body in the form of excess fat.

There are several things you can do to keep your metabolism burning. Here are a few suggestions that works great for me.

1) Always eat breakfast. It starts your metabolism for the day.
2) Eat 3 meals a day and 2 low calorie/healthy snacks.
3) Never skip meals
4) Consume enough calories for your body type

When you skip meals or don't eat enough it signals to your brain that your body is starving so it hangs on to the stored fat for you to survive.

Until Next Time ... Enjoy your weekend.

Sugar Is A Toxin

Mercy it is already past noon, where does the time go?

This morning I came across an article, I felt was worth sharing. It is about sugar being regulated as toxins.

Sugar and other sweeteners have been proven to be toxic to the human body. The researchers at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) released in an issue of the journal Nature, that sugar should be regulated as strictly as alcohol  and tobacco by governments worldwide.

The researchers propose regulations such as taxing all foods and drinks that include added sugar, banning sales in or near schools and placing age limits on purchases.

The researchers cite numerous studies and statistics to make their case that added sugar and to be more specific, sucrose, an even mix of glucose and fructose found in high-fructose corn syrup and in table sugar made from sugar cane and sugar beets has been as detrimental to society as alcohol and tobacco.

As much as I am against to much government control and feel our current administration has went totally over board with their rules and regulations. I am not sure, I am against some of the proposed regulations made by the UCSF researchers. Considering in the United States, more than two-thirds of the population is overweight, and half of them are obese.  About 80 percent of those who are obese will have diabetes or metabolic disorders and will have shortened lives. And about 75 percent of U.S. health-care dollars are spent on diet-related diseases. Maybe it is time those that choose to over indulge in sugar should pay a price.
